Website Launch Checklist: 15 Things to Verify Before You Go Live
Avoid embarrassing post-launch bugs. Use this pre-launch checklist for speed, mobile UX, forms, tracking, SEO basics and security.
Launch day should feel boring — because you already caught the issues. Use this checklist before you flip the switch on a new website or major redesign.
Content & UX
- All service pages have clear headlines, proof and one primary CTA
- Contact/booking forms tested on mobile and desktop
- Thank-you or confirmation states work after submission
- 404 page exists and links back to key sections
- Legal pages live: Privacy Policy, Terms if applicable
Technical
- SSL certificate active (HTTPS everywhere)
- Favicon and social share image (OG tags) configured
- XML sitemap submitted in Google Search Console
- Robots.txt allows indexing of public pages
- 301 redirects mapped for all changed URLs
Performance
- Images compressed and properly sized
- Mobile page speed acceptable on 4G (test PageSpeed Insights)
- No layout shift when fonts or images load
Tracking
- Google Analytics 4 (or equivalent) firing on all pages
- Conversion events: forms, calls, key button clicks
- Search Console verified
SEO basics
- Unique title and meta description per page
- One H1 per page; logical heading structure
- Alt text on meaningful images
A disciplined launch protects the investment you made in design and development — and prevents the "why aren't we getting leads?" panic two weeks later when the real issue was a broken form or missing tracking.
